Core Competency Analysis (CCA) is a strategic business analysis framework that helps organizations identify their unique strengths and resources that distinguish them in the marketplace. It focuses on internal capabilities and resources. On the other hand, other business analysis frameworks like SWOT, PESTEL, and Porter's Five Forces, while also focusing on internal capabilities, place a significant emphasis on external factors such as market trends, competition, and environmental factors. SWOT analysis, for instance, evaluates Strengths, Weaknesses (internal factors), Opportunities, and Threats (external factors). PESTEL analysis focuses on external macro-environmental factors like Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal. Porter's Five Forces analyzes the competitive environment. Thus, while CCA is more internally focused, other frameworks provide a more holistic view by considering both internal and external factors.
