Bubble charts can be used to track profitability by representing three dimensions of data. Each entity with its triplet (v1, v2, v3) of associated data is plotted as a disk that expresses two of the vi values through the disk's xy location and the third through its size. For instance, in the context of tracking profitability, the x-axis could represent the number of years a company has been in the market, the y-axis could represent the revenue, and the size of the bubble could represent the percent of profitability by sales. This allows for a visual representation of the profitability in relation to other factors.
