A Proforma invoice differs from a regular invoice in that it is a preliminary bill of sale sent to buyers in advance of a shipment or delivery of goods. It is often used to declare the value of the trade. It details the items the buyer agrees to purchase at a certain price point. It also includes the costs of freight, tariffs, insurance, legal, and inspection fees for international orders. A regular invoice, on the other hand, is sent to bill an already delivered or agreed-upon service or product.
