The first step is to determine what needs to be decided and assign who will play each role. The subsequent steps of how and when will clarify the tasks and corresponding timeline. For instance, if a decision needs to be made about launching a marketing initiative, the decision to go forward with the promotion needs to be made before deciding who will lead the endeavor, how it will be enacted, and when it will be launched.
